Lisa Carpenter is a 47-year-old single mother and lifelong resident of Merced. She has worked for County of Merced and the Department of Child Support for over 24 years and reared two children, Jordan and Clay. On November 15, 2017, at the age of 22, Clay took his own life. As you can imagine, Lisa is facing extreme pain and grief. Although, she knew Clay was struggling, she didn’t know how to fix it. Lisa’s family has established the Clay Reyes Memorial Scholarship to annually reward students who raise awareness of mental illness and suicide prevention. Lisa and her family will match all money raised to support the scholarship. This year's dinner is $18 and attendees are asked to give a minimum gift of $10 (cash) to the honoree. There is a prize drawing, for which tickets are sold, $1 each or 6 for $5. At the end of the evening, the entire proceeds from the $10 gift bowl and the prize drawing tickets are handed over to the evening's honoree. Feel free to drop off any donations to Century 21 Salvadori Realty or mail them to H.O.W. Merced, 687 E. Donna Drive, Merced CA, 95340. Make all checks payable to Lisa Carpenter.
